The 1997 Survey of Public Participation in the Arts (SPPA), indicates that a large segment of the population watch visual arts programs on television. The ability to present art auctions, nationwide through mass media, has been greatly enhanced by the development of local and regional cable systems. 

As a result, Fine Art Wholesalers Television Division was created to reach a segment of the market that is not in proximity to art centers, is not mobile, or would not otherwise have exposure to a fine art auction.
