Vivi Shahar
Vivi was born in Israel in 1967 to one of Israel’s
most famous artists, Sami Zilkha. So it was almost natural that from
the age of two Vivi would start painting. She assisted her father
throughout her childhood and then enrolled into the Israeli acclaimed
art school, Betzalel. Throughout her career, Vivi worked under artists
such as Howard Behrens, Alexander Astahov, Patricia, and many more.
She held many exhibitions in Israel and at the New York Art Expo.
Her unique style of glow in the dark painting of flowers and vases
that are raised by knife and pallets has established her as one of
the leading floral artists in the world. After the New York Art Expo
in 2001, where her art was represented by one of Israeli’s most acclaimed
publishers, Yosi Gol Art Galleries, the entire exhibition of Vivi’s
work of 100 pieces was sold in the first day and within just the first
four hours. After the exhibition, Vivi and her family decided to move
to the United States in order to expand into the U. S. market. Her
work can be found all over the world especially in Israel, U.S. and
Japan. These days she works seven days a week in order to keep
up with the demand for her work. Vivi publicly stated that she will
work until the age of 40 and then retire. What
makes Vivi works unique and so well known all over the world is that
her work glows in the dark without the use of any special lighting.
Many of her customers have said that what they enjoy most about her
work is that even when the light is turned off at home her piece still
shed light in the entire house.
